This morning, my hubby called to see if I would like to have lunch with him. He had to go to the city to pick up some parts for the shop so we would have about 4 hours to spend together.
I was initially thrilled, to be able to spend the extra time with him, but I was also a bit nervous because I knew he wouldn't be "dressed" to eat at a nice restaurant. And healthy choices at fast-food places are so darn limited!
We talked about different choices, on our way there; with his being, "anywhere with a good salad". So, I suggested Ryan's or Golden Corral; both buffets. Now, wait..... before you think, "she's done lost her mind!!!" lol I figured, their salad choices are really large, we could customize them to our taste and control exactly what would be in them. Now, the key, was going to make sure we stayed away from all the other stuff! lol
We ended up opting for Ryan's and I am very proud to say, I did GREAT! : ))
I had a rather large veggie salad with ff dressing on the side; which I dipped my fork into. I managed to skip all the goodies; bacon, cheese, eggs, croutons, etc. I then opted for a small piece of baked fish with lots of grilled veggies; zucchini, squash, peppers and onions. And for dessert, I chose fresh fruits; pineapple chunks, strawberries, orange slices & grapes. And that's it. That's all I ate. And I drank water. Lots and lots of water. And yes, I even managed to skip the hot rolls with honey butter that was brought to our table!
I still can not believe I was able to control myself! In the past, this has always been sooooo difficult for me! Today? Not so bad. Sure, it was tempting, but I was actually able to manage.
Now, I only wish I could say the same for my hubby...... ( ;
